God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.

In Sunday School today, we watched a video about mothers as image-bearers of God, as part of a series on the family. What was said and wasn't said got me thinking. With Mother's Day just around the corner, I would like to say...
  • To the woman who hasn't conceived and desires to do so: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman whose child/children aren't living: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who struggles to answer "How many children do you have?": God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who won't receive a card or phone call on Mother's Day: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who is blessed with healthy children: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who takes care of her sick child: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who is struggling at being a mom: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who is parenting alone: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman whose marriage didn't turn out like she dreamed: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who would love to be married: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who has a wonderful marriage: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who has had to bury a child, or will soon: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who has suffered abuse: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.
  • To the woman who is reading this: God loves you. God sees you. God remembers you.

How do I know this? Because of the women who have gone before us whom God has loved, seen and remembered. But more importantly, because of the cross.

Know that the cross is the sign of God's love, not your circumstances, not your family (or lack of it), and not your successes or failures. Rejoice in the blessings and mourn the losses.

The creator of the universe loves you, sees you and remembers you. Rest in that, dear one.
